Ever since Chase gave their Sapphire Reserve card an update we knew it was only a matter of time until American Express followed suit with their Platinum card. Back in June they announced they would be making making changes in the coming months but offered no details.
Since then there was has been plenty of speculation as to what those changes maybe, with the only true certainty is that an annual fee raise would be included. Then a Reddit user claimed to find leaked details in the terms of service on the website, indicating that the Fine Hotels & Resorts credit would increase to $300 semi-annually, up from the current flat $200.
There hasn’t been much more besides a rumor claiming the refresh will include a $400 Resy credit and $300 credit to Lululemon. Over on Doctor of Credit they speculated these might replace the current Equinox and Saks credits. While not horrible neither of these credits are particular game changers and will likely be split up over time intervals in the (unfortunately) common coupon book approach.

Nothing else has come out since then and Amex has been exceptionally tight lipped about the coming changes. The only news heard from them was an Instagram post featuring a centurion logo card with a mirror finish and the caption “Coming Soon”. This is assumed to be in reference to the date September 18th, 2025 from the leaked FHR details.
Until then, the only things the credit card community seems to agree on is that the annual fee is expected to rise to $895 and that the FHR credit will increase. We will have to wait for Amex’s official announcement.
